Borderlands Series Rating – Game Informer
The first Borderlands established the winning pattern of the series, but Borderlands 2 perfected it. The sequel stripped away the monotonous brown environment of the first game, treating the player to a colorful, multi-environment Pandora. The new Vault Hunters, such as the Zer0 and the Salvador, are a blast, and a lot of guns have acquired distinctive characteristics that distinguish their makers.
Borderlands 2’s most important contribution to the franchise is the expansion of the fiction genre. The story introduces fan-favorite villain Handsome Jack, injects personality into previously lifeless heroes like Lilith and Roland, and introduces protagonists like Tiny Tina and Sir Hammerlock. It also boasts a great set of expansions, such as Assault on Dragon’s Keep (the predecessor to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands). Borderlands 2 still looks like the culmination of the franchise a decade later and is still a prime example of what Borderlands can do when shooting on all cylinders. | Our review
