The leader of the Valencia region said bodies were found after torrential rain caused flash floods in southeastern Spain.
“The bodies have been found, but out of respect for the family, we will not provide any further data,” Carlos Mazon told reporters.

Officials said six people were missing in Letur, which has a population of less than 1,000, in the eastern province of Albacete.
The number of bodies found was not specified. Rescue efforts are underway and continued into the night.

Radio and television stations are said to have received hundreds of calls for help from people trapped in flooded areas or looking for loved ones while rescuers had difficulty reaching some areas. area.
Emergency services workers are using drones to search for missing people in the hard-hit Letur municipality, local official Milagros Tolon told Spanish public broadcaster TVE .
“The first priority is to find these people,” she said.
Spain’s state weather agency AEMET issued a red alert level in the Valencia region and a second highest alert level in parts of Andalusia.
Valencia City Hall said all schools and sporting events were suspended on Wednesday and parks would be closed.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a post on X that he was following reports of missing people “with concern.”
He urged people to follow the government’s advice, adding that people should “avoid unnecessary trips.”
