Before Arum can even think about fighting Lomachenko-Stevenson, Loma (16-2, 11 KOs) needs to be given a leave of absence by the Ukrainian military and play an even match in October.
Former triple world champion Lomachenko has not fought since his victory over Richard Commey last December. Arum wants him back into action in a warm-up this year before he starts thinking of other fights for him.
Lomachenko vs. Stevenson will be a big fight and attract a lot of interest in the boxing world. WBC/WBO super featherweight champion Shakur (18-0.9 KOs) said he wants Lomachenko to be relegated to 130th place for that bout.

It’s unrealistic to think of a fight involving Ryan Garcia facing Shakur Stevenson anytime soon, if at all. Ryan is looking for what many boxing fans see as a showdown against Gervonta ‘The Tank’ Davis, with whom he has had few or no wins.
When Ryan faces Tank, we’ll see if he wants to fight Shakur or any of Arum’s other fighters like Teofimo Lopez or Lomachenko. Ryan will likely return to fighting the older ones after he has his last match of the day with Tank Davis, and he probably won’t want any living body part like Shakur.

“Both of you want that fight. I think [Top Rank vice president] Carl Moretti is working with our matchmakers to pick a suitable opponent and I’m sure they’ll find someone who passes all the tests,” Arum said when asked. he will play Lomachenko in October.
Stevenson is about to have consecutive wins over Oscar Valdez and Jamel Herring. At 24, Shakur looks very hard to beat, and it will take a special fighter to defeat him.
The 34-year-old Lomachenko needs to face Stevenson sooner rather than later as he might be too old to wait.
