Bob Arum provides location and date updates
Anthony Yarde could have his next game announced next week.
Ilford light-heavyweight is the number one contender for the WBO and has sure attractions in showdown with Artur Betterbiev.
It was recently mentioned that the day before the end of the year would likely be a match and Top Rated promoter Bob Arum confirmed it.
He says the O2 Arena in London is booked for late October – and Boxing Social understands the match will be on October 22.
Beterbiev, the IBF and WBC champion, acted most recently just last month when he dethroned Joe Smith Jr to add the WBO crown to a growing collection as he bid to become undisputed, with only Dmitry Bivol, the WBA champion, the only other obstacle.
Yarde will join the fight with Beterbiev hoping to draw on his previous experience to the top of the table at £175.
‘The Beast From The East’ hit 11th-half injury time against Sergey Kovalev, who at the time held the WBO belt, back in 2019 at Traktor Sport Palace in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
Talking to FightHypeArum says:
“No, we are talking to Beterbiev and have an appointment at the end of October in the UK with Yarde.”
“I think Frank Warren is hosting the O2 in London and Beterbiev is on vacation.”
“His lawyer is on vacation, but next week we’re scheduled to talk to him, and hopefully, we’ll end that fight.”
Beterbiev is said to have recently had surgery on a leg injury following his win over Smith Jr and fully confirmed the Russia vs Yarde matchup will take place.
The broadcast situation could be tricky, however, as Top Rank has deals with ESPN Stateside and Sky Sports in the UK, while Warren’s charge Yarde has fought exclusively on BT Sport.
