BMW’s i4 electric hatchback Entering the 2023 model year with the new eDrive35 tier has brought the starting price down to $52,395, including a $995 destination fee.
The i4 is a new addition to BMW’s lineup for 2022, initially offering eDrive40 and M50 levels, priced from $56,395 and $66,895, respectively. Pricing for those grades for the 2023 model year has yet to be announced.
As the new entry-level version of the i4, the eDrive35 has a smaller battery and less power compared to other versions. The battery has a total capacity of 70.2 kWh and the car’s single electric motor in the rear produces 281 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.
The EDrive35 will still sprint to 60 mph from rest in a respectable 5.8 seconds and BMW’s range estimate is 260 miles. The EDrive40 and M50 both have an 83.9 kwh battery and offer EPA-rated 301 and 270 miles respectively.

Using a DC fast charger with a charging speed of 180 kw, eDrive35 owners can charge the battery from 10%-80% in over 30 minutes.
Despite being the base model, the eDrive35 comes with the same standard features as the eDrive40, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment center.
The production of the BMW i4 is carried out at a factory in Munich, Germany. Deliveries of the 2023 i4s in the United States are expected to begin early next year.
