BMW CE 04 electric scooter may launch in India



This scooter offers a claimed range of 130 km from an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery.

BMW has introduced the CE 04 in India, along with the launch of the 2023 BMW S100 RR. This futuristic looking e-scooter has an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing it to travel long distances. 130 km on a single charge.

BMW CE 04 e-scooter: design, platform and features

The CE 04 features a compact front fender, large side panels and a slanted tail section with bench-like seats. BMW has also integrated storage compartments in the CE 04 e-scooter placed on the sides as well as the front. There is also a ventilated mobile charging compartment, with a USB Type-C charging port.

The BMW CE 04 uses a permanent magnet motor mounted in a steel frame between the battery and the rear wheel. It has a rated power of 15kW (20hp) and a maximum power of 31KW or 42hp. It allows the CE 04 to sprint from 0-50kph in a claimed 2.6 seconds and hit a claimed top speed of 120kph.

Inside the CE 04’s flooring is an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers the motor. BMW claims the scooter can go 130km on a full charge. The battery can be charged from 0 percent to 100 percent in 4 hours and 20 minutes using a 2.3 kW charger. However, a 6.9 kW fast charger will reduce that time to 1 hour 40 minutes.

The BMW CE 04 has a traction control system and three standard driving modes – Eco, Road and Rain. The ride modes can be accessed via the large 10.25-inch, high-resolution TFT display that has full smartphone connectivity. The dashboard also provides a split between navigation and other driving functions.

The CE 04 uses a tubular steel frame with a 35mm telescopic fork up front and a preload-adjustable monoshock mounted to the side swingarm. The scooter rides on 15-inch wheels with 120-section tires at the front and 160-section tires at the rear.

Braking duties are handled by twin 265mm discs and a single disc at the rear. While ABS is standard, BMW offers ABS Pro as an option that comes with a cornering function.

Worldwide, BMW offers the CE 04 electric motorcycle in two color options. The standard version comes in off-white with matte black parts, while the Avant Garde Style comes in Magellan Gray metallic, with a black/orange saddle and orange spoiler.

Until now, BMW has not announced plans for the CE 04 electric scooter model in India, however, due to the success of this model. C400GT maxi-scooter, BMW could very well bring it here. In terms of price, the CE 04 costs almost twice as much as the C 400 GT in the international market. And if that trend continues, the price it carries won’t be too far from the R 1250 GS in India.
