Guard CJ McCollum will wear the uniform against Orlando after fully recovering from a collapsed lung, the injury he sustained during the game against Boston on December 4, according to Shams Charania by The Athletic. Portland shown in a press release two days before Christmas that McCollum’s lungs had healed, but he needed a few more weeks of recovery to get back to normal.
McCollum has averaged 20.6 points and 4.5 assists with .424 / .393 / ,700 shots in 24 games (35.3 minutes) so far this season. The 30-year-old, who is in the first year of a three-year, $100 million contract, could be a commercial contender during the season.
McCollum’s long-term partner, Damian Lillard, experience abdominal surgery on Thursday and will be reevaluated in five to six weeks. Portland is currently 10th on the Western Conference rankings with a 16-25 record.
