Black mother shuts down Sesame Place after character seemingly ignores her daughters during parade

Sesame Place Philadelphia Is Getting Backlash And Accused racist after a mother of two accused her Black daughters of being shunned by Rosita, a Sesame Street character. The park has since denied the accusations of racism.

Video posted by a woman named Jodi shows two young girls watching the parade with excitement. When they notice Rosita walking past, they will reach out to hug or interact.

But while Rosita can be seen punching others near the children, the character gives a “empty” hand signal when standing in front of the girls and walks away without acknowledging them.

Leaving them looking rather pathetic, the mother shared the footage on Instagram on Sunday and detailed what happened:

We were on our way out of the sesame place and the kids wanted to stop to see the characters.

She went on to say:

This KILLER blatantly told our kids NO and went to hug the little white girl next to us! Then when I complained about it, my look was as if I was going crazy.

The mother also said that she would never visit Sesame Place again.

Hours later and after several thousand retweets of the video posted to Jodi’s IG account, Sesame Place denied the accusations of racism in the statement.

Sesame Place claims “their park and our staff stand for inclusion and equality in all its forms.” The statement also said uniforms can sometimes make it difficult for children to see.

… The costumes our performers wear are sometimes hard to see at the lower end and sometimes our performers miss hug requests from guests.

The statement goes on to say that the “no” gesture is intended for other people and is not directed at children.

The performer portraying the character Rosita has confirmed that the ‘no’ hand gesture seen multiple times in the video is not directed at any specific person, but is instead in response to multiple requests from one person. in the crowd asking Rosita to hold their baby. a photo is not allowed.

They also invite the family back for a “special” meeting, greetings and apologies.

People on social media responded to the statement from Sesame Place and disapproved of it. One person tweeted:
