Panaji (Goa):

Following the invitation of controversial Muslim preacher Zakir Naik of Qatar to the FIFA World Cup, BJP Spokesperson Savio Rodrigues today called on the government, the Football Association of India and the Indians to come to the host country to bleach it. run this sporting event.

Zakir Naik, an Indian fugitive, was invited by Qatar to give a lecture on Islam during the FIFA World Cup.

In a statement, Mr Rodrigues said that giving a foundation to Naik at a time when the world is battling terrorism is tantamount to giving a “terrorist sympathizer” to “sow hate”.

“The FIFA World Cup is a global event. People from all over the world come to witness this spectacular sport and also millions of people watch it on TV and the internet. Providing a platform for Zakir Naik, at a time when the world is fighting global terrorism, is providing a platform for a terrorist to spread his extremism and hatred,” he said.

The BJP leader called on domestic people and foreigners who are victims of terrorism to boycott the World Cup event “in solidarity with the global fight against terrorism”.

Alleging that Naik was instrumental in spreading “Islamic extremism and hatred in India”, Rodrigues said he was “a terrorist himself, nothing less”.

“Zakir Naik is a wanted man under Indian law. He has been charged with money laundering and hate speech. He is a terrorist sympathizer. In fact, he himself is also a terrorist. He was an equally terrorist. He openly supported Osama bin Laden and was instrumental in spreading Islamic extremism and hatred in India,” added Mr. Rodrigues.

In early March this year, the Interior Ministry declared the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) founded by Zakir Naik an illegal association and banned it for five years.

Al Arabiya News quoted Faisal Alhajri, presenter of Qatar’s state sports channel Alkass, as saying: “The missionary Sheikh Zakir Naik is present in Qatar during the World Cup and will give many lectures on religion during the tournament”.

The MHA’s announcement made it clear that the speeches of Zakir Naik, the founder of IRF, were objectionable because he praised known terrorists.

The announcement added that the founder of the IRF had also promoted forced conversion of youth to Islam, justified suicide bombings and posted offensive comments against Hindus, the gods of Hinduism and other religions, which are offensive to other religions.

“Naik has also further inspired Muslim youth and terrorists in India and abroad to carry out terrorist acts,” the statement added. It also said that the illegal activities of the IRF, its members, as well as its sympathizers were noticed in Gujarat, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Maharashtra and Odisha.
