Bills GM: I don’t see Stefon Diggs’ contract as a problem
When the Minnesota Vikings gave Stefon Diggs a five-year, $72 million contract extension in 2018, it made him one of the 10 highest-paid earners in the NFL. Four years later, Diggs joined the Buffalo Bills and made just over $27 million over the next two seasons.
That’s no small amount, but it pales in comparison to the mammoth contracts awarded to Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill this spring.
While it would make sense if Diggs were poised for a substantial raise, Bills general manager Brandon Beane said he’s not too worried about it.
“We’ve had Stefon for two years, so we know it,” Beane said, via Pro Football Talk. “At the right time, we’ll work with his agents and see if there’s something to be done for him. He’s a winner. He’s winning and for sure, Everyone wants to get paid, but he wants to be a winning team. I think he’s the best version of himself. So I don’t see that as a problem.”
Diggs, 28, earned Pro Bowl backing during his first two seasons with the Bills and finished the 2021 regular season with 1,225 receiving yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns.
