Big AirPods Pro feature may not appear on older AirPods Pro model
Previous reports have suggested that Adaptive Transparency will also appear on the previous generation of AirPods Pro. However, it looks like it’s just a bug in iOS 16, which suggests the feature will appear on older AirPods Pro. This has been confirmed by Bloomberg Mark Gurman in a tweet. Unexpectedly, it was suggested that Adaptive Transparency would be coming to older AirPods.
Why Adaptive Transparency may be exclusive to the new AirPods Pro
During the event – and also after – Apple emphasized how good adaptive transparency on the new AirPods Pro really is. A new feature coming to an older AirPods model is always going to be a little tricky. Apple released the latest update of iOS 16 – 16.0.2 – at the end of September. In that particular update it turned out that the AirPods Pro are older as well as the older AirPods Pro. AirPods Pro Max will get the feature. It looks like with the next update, it may become clear that Apple will keep Adaptive Transparency exclusively for the new AirPods Pro.
What is adaptive transparency and why is it ‘buzzing’ about it?
With the new AirPods Pro, Apple has included a brand new H2 chip in its flagship wireless earbuds. What the H2 chip does is it automatically adjusts to Transparency Mode. If you’re chatting and sometimes with AirPods on, you’ll have a hard time hearing the other person. With adaptive transparency, AirPods Pro ensures that speech is heard better and users can hear conversations much better. This is something that ‘normal’ Transparency Mode can’t do. Not only that, with Adaptive Transparency you can also reduce loud sounds around you.
