Biden management program provides free and discounted Internet service to low-income families
The Biden Administration moves to make internet services more accessible to Americans. The bipartisan Infrastructure Bill passed in November 2021. While collaborating with Democrats, Republicans and Independents, President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris developed Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
High-speed internet is not a luxury. It is a necessity.
But today, too many families simply cannot afford it.
That’s why in November, when we passed the bipartisan Infrastructure Act, we created something called the Affordable Connectivity Program. Here is how it works.

“High-speed internet is not a luxury. It’s a necessity,” President Joe Biden tweeted. “But today, too many families simply cannot afford it. That’s why in November, when we passed the bipartisan Infrastructure Act, we created something called the Affordable Connectivity Program. ”
The program is intended to assist families whose “annual income is twice the federal poverty level or less.” In addition, families receiving help from federal programs, such as the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, or Supplemental Security Income, may also be eligible. Full list of programs meet eligibility requirements available on whitehouse.gov/getinternet.
According to an additional tweet by President Biden, “nearly 40% of American households qualify” for the program.
My administration is taking steps to prevent proprietary dealings that landlords make with internet companies.
If we can stop them, families will be able to choose the provider they want. That means companies will have to compete for business, which in turn means lowering prices.

Biden Governance Says Eligible Families Will Get $30 Grant
Eligible households will receive a $30 grant from the government towards their internet connection bill. Twenty internet providers, such as AT&T and Verizon, pledge to offer a $30 monthly plan. This means that families who qualify for one of the participating companies will receive the services free of charge.
However, there’s no need to worry if your provider isn’t on the list up to $30. Eligible families can still use ACP benefits for another provider and get $30 off the top. their existing bill. The Biden administration has secured more than 1,300 internet providers that will accept a $30 discount.
In addition to the free or discounted services, the Biden administrator also provides financial assistance to purchase a related electronic device. ACP-eligible households may be eligible for a discount of up to $100. Those on the receiving end can use the benefit for a “laptop, desktop or tablet computer. ”
“More than 30 million Americans live in places where speeds are too slow or where broadband infrastructure is not available at all,” President Biden tweeted. “Thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we are delivering high-speed internet infrastructure to every corner of this country.”
