Bibhu Mohapatra partnered with Indian cashmere brand Janavi for his runway show at New York Fashion Week. The womenswear designer’s latest collection blends artistic inspiration with classic elegance.

Bibhu Mohapatra’s Fall 2023 collection is inspired by artist Nancy Cunard and combines pleated pleats with textured leather and seams, the designer announced on Facebook on May 15. 2. The model wears an Indian Janavi shawl designed by Jyotika Jalani, with whom Mohapatra collaborated for the showcase.

“We came together because our energies are so similar,” says Jhalani. “We never thought about a collection, we never thought about collaborating, we decided that we had to do something together.
