Bharat Rashtra Samithi: 21 years after launch, KCR turns TRS into national party | India News

NEW DELHI: TRS supremo and Telangana Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday launched Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at exactly 1.19 p.m., in the first step toward becoming a national party.
The move comes after the party’s state executive members and other elected representatives passed a resolution to unite TRS in the new party. The resolution will be sent to the Election Commission on Thursday or Friday.
JD(S) leader and former Karnataka chief HD Kumaraswamy along with his 20 MLAs attended the launch event at TRS headquarters.
Many see it as a big gamble, KCR demonstrated ambitions to play a major role in national politics in 2019 and revealed plans to form a national party after the TRS plenary conference in April.
He has also traveled across the country to meet opposition leaders in an effort to form a united front against the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
The BRS, when it finally comes into being, will be the first regional party from two Telugu states to be converted into a national party.
The former ministers of unified Andhra Pradesh, NT Rama Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu, played an important role in Delhi while never changing the character of the Telugu Desam Party as a regional player.
