Earlier this week, the Indian government banned the popular game BGMI, developed by Krafton. BGMI has grown in popularity since its inception and after the ban of PUBG, another popular game. In an earlier statement, Krafton has said it will let fans know when it has more “information” about why it was banned. Now, Krafton India CEO Sean Hyunil Soh posted an announcement for BGMI fans, and here it is:
“Dear BGMI Patron,
We are committed to the Indian market and aggressive about domestic opportunities. In KRAFTON, Inc. The security and privacy of our user data is paramount to its use. We have at all times complied with all laws and regulations in India including data protection laws and regulations and will continue to comply with such laws and regulations.
We thank you for all the love and support you have given us on our journey here and hope to continue to grow our association in the future. There may be questions on your mind regarding the current state of the country’s most beloved game – BGMI. In keeping with this, we have worked hard to exchange our sincerity with the relevant authorities and resolve the issues.
We kindly ask you to wait to hear from us. We will keep you informed of the next updates. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and jointly promoting the gaming ecosystem in India. ”
From the message, it’s still not entirely clear why the game is actually banned. The Indian government has yet to give any official reason for the ban. However, it seems from the message from the Krafton CEO that they are working with the government to overturn the ban.
