Beyoncé surpasses Jay-Z to become the most nominated artist ever
Beyoncé made history by becoming the most nominated artist of all time at the Grammy Awards, surpassing her husband Jay-Z.
The pair each have 88 nominations – but Beyoncé has now pulled ahead thanks to recognition for her latest album, Cowboy Carter.
She leads this year’s race with a total of 11 nominations, including Best Album, Best Country Album and Song of the Year for Texas Hold ‘Em.
The other top nominees, each with seven, are Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone and Charli XCX.
The Beatles also received a nomination for Record of the Year for Now And Then, an unfinished song by John Lennon. completed last year with the help of AI.
Beyoncé is already the Recording Academy’s most decorated artist, with 32 wins as a solo artist and three more as a member of Destiny’s Child.
However, she has never won the coveted Album of the Year title despite having 4 nominations in this category.
Most recently, Harry Styles beat her to that award at the 2023 ceremony, where Beyoncé’s disco Renaissance adventure was the bookies’ favorite to win.
Earlier this year, Jay-Z appeared to scold Grammy voters because Beyonce wasn’t recognized in the top category when he accepted the lifetime achievement award.
“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady,” he told the audience. “But she has more Grammys than everyone and has never won Album of the Year.
“So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. Most Grammys; album that’s never won award of the year. That doesn’t work.”

Nominations for all 94 Grammy categories were revealed on Friday.
British star Raye has received several awards, including musician of the year and best new artist.
The Rolling Stones were also nominated for best rock album for Hackney Diamonds, their first album since 2016.
