Best M.2 SSD of 2024: Tested and reviewed by experts
One of the biggest killers of storage is temperature. The faster the drive, the more waste heat it generates. And the CS3150 is a fast drive. Sequential read and write speeds are 11,500MB/s and 8,500MB/s respectively.
To keep temperatures at a manageable level, the CS3150 not only has a large heatsink but also dual cooling fans.
Review: PNY CS3150
I have stress tested the drive using CrystalDiskMark and monitor temperature using CrystalDisk informationand — despite my relentless pounding of the CS3150 — I couldn’t get it to exceed the maximum operating temperature of 70°C/158°F.
Note that the fan requires a free set of 4-pin fan headers on the motherboard.
This drive is fairly new so there aren’t many reviews for it yet, but the reviews I’ve seen suggest the drive lives up to expectations.
