Best Cloud Storage Services of 2024: Tested by Experts
When evaluating cloud storage services, we focus on a few key factors to ensure our recommendations are trustworthy and well-founded.
First, the real-world experience. Having worked with several large international IT companies in the US, Taiwan, and Japan, I have professional experience using six of the seven cloud hosting services on our list (DigitalOcean being the exception). My experience with DigitalOcean comes from running personal websites, including a US-based site that used to get over 500,000 visits per month (until Google’s controversy Update useful content) and another product recently launched in Japan.
This experience allows me to, to the best of my ability, approach user experience, ease of setup, cost, performance metrics (i.e. uptime, load times, etc.), and overall functionality.
Then there’s customer feedback. The problem with reviews is that you can’t take one person’s word for it. Collecting hundreds of reviews and comments from real users helps us evaluate services from multiple perspectives and get closer to the “truth.”
Then, of course, we compare features, pricing, and security as these factors can change over time and between providers.
Finally, we conduct additional research on each vendor, including reviewing industry reports, expert opinions, and the company’s overall reputation in the market.
By combining all of this (i.e. years of real-world experience, feedback from real users, and other research), we can properly evaluate these cloud services and make practical and reliable cloud hosting recommendations.
