Bengaluru Airport to get a new terminal today: 5 facts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new terminal of Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport today. The international airport’s Terminal 2 (T-2) incorporated the “Garden Terminal” concept, a first of its kind.

Here are 5 facts about the new terminal

  1. Spreading over a total area of ​​2,55,645m2, the terminal will have 22 contact gates and 9 gates for customs hand baggage inspection. The gate lounge will have a capacity of 5,953 seats.

  2. Phase one of Terminal 2 will feature 15 bus gates, 90 check-in solutions, 17 security check lanes and a capacity of 25 million passengers per year.

  3. Built at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore, the station is considered an architectural wonder. It will have lush greenery inside and out and the passenger experience is designed to be a stroll in the garden.

  4. The station has been built around four guiding principles – sustainability ‘Garden Station’, technology and innovation, art and culture of Karnataka.

  5. An airport official said the cultural diversity and unique art forms of Karnataka and South India will be showcased through the garden and art installations.
