Via Sean Jones: Jose Benavidez Sr. says he wants to set up a fight between his son David Benavidez (25-0, 22 KOs) and Demetrius Andrade after he faced David Lemieux in May in a 168-lb WBC title knockout .
Jose Sr. says that the number his promoter Sampson Lewkowicz recently mentioned about wanting a fight between Benavidez and Andrade is false.
They are willing to negotiate the fight to make it happen because it is the fight that will help them grow further.
With Canelo Alvarez showing no interest in fighting Benavidez, it’s important that he faces the biggest names possible like Andrade, Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo,
Benavidez Sr. want the next Demetrius Andrade

“They don’t want to go in there with David, so it makes it a bit complicated, but that makes David more dangerous because he’s getting more experience. When they fight David, he gets stronger.
“That conversation happened really quickly because there were conversations between PBC and Canelo against David, and they didn’t know where it came from and Sampson [Lewkowichz] said what he was thinking,” said Benavidez Sr. on the question of Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade.
“I think we have to sit down and negotiate the war [Benavidez vs. Andrade], and those who fight must get what is fair to each other. You can’t just ask for ten million dollars. That’s a bit crazy.
“It’s not the right number. If he wants ten, how much does Boo Boo want? So I think that’s a bit of a big number. We are willing to negotiate. I had a chance to speak with Eddie Hearn and I wanted to make sure that was possible so I could talk to our promoters to make that fight. [with Andrade and Benavidez] happening.
“He [Hearn] very open and positive about it. He said, ‘Yes, sure, let’s make that fight happen.’ Eddie Hearn doesn’t care if that fight gets on Showtime, so that’s cool. There is a big possibility that a fight is possible.
“At the moment, we are focusing on David Lemieux. If all goes well, it’s a war [Andrade] we want to do next. Eddie Hearn is willing to do that, so a lot of people respect that.
“I think both [Andrade and Benavidez] need that. Boo Boo needs that war, we need that war. No one wants to fight Boo Boo, so that would be a big statement for David.
“I think David can even stop him, so why not make that fight happen? Boo Boo is a gladiator that no one wants to fight. We want to fight him, so let’s make it happen.
“We didn’t ask for what Sampson said, so sit down and we want him [Andrade] comfortable. We just wanted to have that fight. It should be an easy fight to make.
“Hopefully, we get that fight and we beat him. We can show the world the war that people want to see. We are not afraid to fight him and put our unbeaten record first,” said Benavidez Sr.
Jose Sr: Canelo EASILY beat Bivol & Golovkin
“I thought Canelo was going to win these games against Bivol and GGG and now they’ve brought in John Ryder. I heard the contract like,” said Benavidez Sr. speak.
Jose Sr. is right about Canelo’s ability to beat WBA light heavyweight champions Dmitry Bivol and 40-year-old Gennady Golovkin, but that won’t be easy.
Canelo’s recent victories over Caleb Plant and Billy Joe Saunders have not been easy for him. Golovkin and Bivol are much better fighters than those two, and they can beat Canelo.
Of course, they won’t make a decision against Canelo for obvious reasons, but they will have a chance to take him down by targeting his midsection.
“For me, that means they [Canelo] didn’t want to fight David. They have a lot of respect and I’m happy for that because we’re doing something nice. If David was too easy, they would fight like Yildirim. They will make that fight immediately.
“Bivol wasn’t active, and didn’t look very good, so it didn’t matter to Canelo win that game,” said Benavidez Sr. continue. “GGG is not what it used to be.
“I wish he would come back stronger than before, but it was another fight where I saw Canelo win those two games no matter what. Congratulations to him for making that deal [with Matchroom Boxing]. Those are easier fights than fighting Charlo or David [Benavidez].
“I think people will want to see that, Charlo or David. We are not waiting for Canelo. We just need to continue on our way to be ready for what’s to come in the future.
“Once they see Canelo defeat these guys [Bivol and Golovkin] easily, they will put more pressure on him against David. There’s a lot of pressure [on Canelo already]and i like it.
“Honestly, after he defeats these guys, who will he fight? What other excuse would he make? Either he leaves boxing or he moves to another division or he will have to face David because everyone is demanding it.
“For him to make history and feel good about himself, he has to fight David. It will be a big fight because people are demanding that fight,” said Benavidez Sr. speak.
Canelo tells Benavidez ‘what to do’
It’s puzzling that Canelo wants Benavidez and Jermall Charlo to fight, as those are the same guys PBC has offered him $100 million to fight in 2022.
Why would Canelo want them to fight unless he hoped that one of them, maybe Benavidez, lost so he wouldn’t have to risk facing him?

“We said we wanted to fight these guys. We want to fight Charlos, we want to fight Andrades, we want to fight Caleb Plants. We don’t wait for him to tell us that. He is saying that he will fight the winner. Okay, let’s make a contract.
“No contract, nothing,” said Benavidez Sr. talked about Canelo’s failure to give assurances that he would fight David Benavidez vs Charlo winner by making a contract. “Is not [Canelo not serious]he is just teasing the fans and it is disrespectful to those who believe so.

Lemieux next for Benavidez in May
