Ben Stokes will return to England’s ODI squad for the first time in a year when they face India under new white-ball captain Jos Buttler later this month.

Stokes, one of the key members of England’s 2019 World Cup-winning team, has not featured in the top 50 since he captained the three-match series against Pakistan last July.

All-round player announced he would be taking a break from the game after that series, but has since returned to the Experimental side and was named Joe Root’s successor earlier this summer.

Stokes was part of the 15-man team for three ODIs against India, live on Sky Sports Cricket from July 12, with Buttler taking over after Eoin Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket.

After the opening series at The Oval, the two sides clash at Lord (July 14) and Old Trafford (July 17).

Ahead of a series of more than 50 games, England face India in three T20 international matches, starting next Thursday at the Ageas Bowl before games at Edgbaston and Trent Bridge on July 9 and 10 respectively.

Buttler is one of five Lancashire players on the T20I team, with track and field athlete Richard Gleeson being the only player not yet selected from the 14 selected players.

Jos Buttler will start captaining England's white team when they face India in a three-match T20I series, which starts next week.
