Probably not the customer. Bed Bath & Beyond’s latest quarter as unhappy as the company had telegraphed earlier. The company’s same-store sales fell 26% in the quarter ended August 27 from a year earlier, matching the previous update. Even a better-than-normal buybuy Baby banner shows similar store sales down by a high percentage of teens compared to a year earlier. The net loss was $366.2 million, nearly three times the figure that Wall Street analysts had recorded. The company maintains its outlook for the full fiscal year ending in February, still expecting sales at similar stores to drop about 20%.
