BCCI challenges ICC’s ‘poor’ rating for Indore pitch | Cricket News

MUMBAI: Cricket Board of India (BCCI) challenged the International Cricket Council (ICC) the decision of match referee Chris Broad to consider Indore field as the field in the Third Test of Border Line-Gavaskar is “poor”.
Broad’s decision meant three points were deducted from the venue.
TOI understands that BCCI has filed an appeal with the ICC regarding Broad’s ruling against the square camera.
According to ICC standards, appeals like this are heard and decided by the ICC’s director general (crickets). Wasim Khan and former captain of India Sourav Gangulywho is currently the chairman of the ICC men’s cricket committee.

However, Ganguly will be withdrawn from the process because he is from India, the ICC member country that filed the objection.
The ICC will replace Ganguly with someone else in the process.
The BCCI is encouraged by the fact that there is a precedent for such an appeal being reviewed and the award annulled/modified by the ICC.
Last year, the ICC revisited the ‘below average’ rating for the pitch at Rawalpindi during the Anglo-Pakistan Test.
