The BBC have started to prepare for Facebook’s 2024 Anniversary: The TV station has announced that their reality entertainment team made a three-part documentary about Mark Zuckerberg and the social network he founded. The Facebook story was pretty well known at this point, and it’s generally known that Zuckerberg originally designed it to connect students at Harvard. And that is The Winklevoss Twins sued the head of Meta, claiming that he had stolen their idea. BBChowever, for the purpose of presenting an “official account” of Mark Zuckerberg and the social network he founded.
That means no event is as staged as in the 2010 David Fincher-directed film starring Jesse Eisenberg. Instead of, BBC promises access to “key players, insider testimony, personal diaries and rare archives.” Mindhouse, the TV production company behind the project, will also look at the rise of social media and how it has changed human behavior and interactions. It’s unclear whether the documentary will examine Facebook’s role in spreading fake news around the world.
Nancy Strang, Minhouse Creative Director, Mindhouse, said in a statement:
“The remarkable story of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook is one of our times. He is said to have done more to change human behavior and connectivity than any human. I am delighted that we have been given this opportunity to tell the extraordinary inner story of the social media giant and the man behind it.”
The archives, whose activity title is Zuckerberg, has no release date yet. But it will air on BBC Two and will be streamed from BBC iPlayer when it’s out.
