‘Bayonetta Origins’, ‘Flame Keeper’, plus today’s other new releases and sales – TouchArcade

Hello gentle readers and welcome to the SwitchArcade Wrap-up on March 17, 2023. In today’s post, we have a few more new releases to review as we wrap up the week. The most notable is blade spin-off Bayonetta Origin: Cereza and the Lost Demon, but there are also a number of other compelling titles in the group. Then we have a healthy list of new sales to check out, and a smaller list of deals that expire at the end of the week. Let’s go!

New release

Origins of Bayonetta: Cereza and the Lost Demon ($59.99)

Hello, yes, it’s another time blade game already. We have been waiting a very long time for bayonet 3and it’s really good. Origin of Bayonetta is of course a very different kind of game from the ones in the main series. Less about fighting style and more about puzzle solving and exploration. It feels like it’s conveying a bit Okami, but only a little. Don’t expect something of scale or depth from this. We’ll revisit this unusual side story soon, but I think blade fans will at least love how it builds on lore.

Peppa Pig: Adventures in the World ($39.99)

Other Peppa pig games from the folks at Outright Games. Create some characters and go on a world tour with Peppa, visiting various locations around the world. Collect decorations for your home and meet all kinds of characters from the series. I imagine kids who love Peppa will have a good time with this, especially if they enjoyed the previous game. It certainly looks well made and authentic to the brand, at least. The game isn’t aimed at an old man like me, so that’s really all I can say about it.

Fire Keeper ($11.99)

Another roguelite game, but one with a few cool changes to help it stand out. You play as a small fire, and your goal in each area is to gather enough flame energy to light the fire that allows you to continue. You can get it through a variety of ways and the most reliable possible is from fighting enemies. But the trick here is that the power of the fire is also your health, so if you pour too much into the campfire or play bad, you may have a little trouble. I’ll look into this in a few days, so look forward to that.

Fur Squadron ($6.99)

This is the dollar store Starfox, and it’s surprisingly good with that in mind. A team of space animal pilots are doing some routine training in virtual reality, which looks exactly like every ’80s homage game of the past few years. Things start to get a little geeky, and the danger soon becomes anything but virtual. You have a total of six levels, with three levels of difficulty. It doesn’t take too long to play through, but it’s a fun time as it lasts.

Card ($5.99)

Oh you know, just me and trick. Go out, play some games. This is another game in the Metroidvania style and it doesn’t really stand out. You play as an orphan turned into a monster by a cursed mask, and as you gather new abilities, your form will become even more monstrous. It lasted several hours and it never really took off. Dare I say? It’s kind of boring. Not really a great place to get into a competitive genre like this one.

Off Track ($4.39)

This is a first-person platformer game with thirty levels spread across five worlds. The idea of each stage is that you are jumping along the tops of the carriages in some very abstract context. There’s a bit of chaos due to the game’s reliance on its physical model, which adds flavor to the proceedings. A strange one, but at least it’s cheap.

Quiz 4 All ($3.99)

Cooking & Publishing’s newest game is just a plain old trivia game, nothing more and nothing less. I guess on the scale of the stuff they publish, this isn’t too bad. It at least, you know, has some sort of game to it. Up to four people can play locally. I’m not going to blow four bucks on this, but there are worse things from this publisher.

Labyrinth Runner – Horror Escape Survival Simulator ($4.99)

Another piece of junk from eShop newbies at GOGAME CONSOLE PUBLICATION, definitely an idea house if any. This is a trash maze game and you can definitely find a better way to spend $5 today.

The sale

(North American eShop, US price)

I suppose the biggest news in the inbox today is that Square Enix is having another sale, this time including some newer games like harvest, Crisis coreAnd Chronicles of DioField. Check out that list and treat yourself to an RPG or two if you feel like it. There’s not much going on in the weekend outbox, but consider it as a precaution.
