Bathrat Leon brings Japan to the table in Saudi Arabia

Eleven months out of the stunning G2 Godolpin Mile victory on the night of the Dubai World Cup, BATHRAT LEON (JPN) (h, 5, Kizuna {Jpn}–Bathrat Amal {Jpn}, new approach {Ire}) used similar pre-run tactics below the in-form Ryusei Sakai and just overcame America’s Casa Creed (Jimmy Creed) to win the $1.5 million G3 1351 Turf Sprint la on Saturday at King Abdulaziz Racetrack. Rushing forward to secure the front, Bathrat Leon caught up with his compatriot Resistencia (Jpn) (Daiwa Major {Jpn}) as Casa Creed was tasked with running around the trip. The pacemaker took his company further, starting off subtly and barely holding back Casa Creed, who only found Songline (Jpn) (Kizuna {Jpn}) too strong 12 months ago. It was the second win in the past six days for 25-year-old Sakai, who guided Lemon Pop (Lemon Drop Kid) to victory during the G1 February S. in Tokyo last Sunday.
