Bad news for Amazon Prime members: Amazon introduces device limits from January 2025
Amazon is reportedly tweaking Prime Video subscription plans in India bringing restrictions to TV devices. Starting January 2025, Amazon Prime subscribers can sign in from up to five devices, and only two of the devices can be TVs. Therefore, if Prime Video users want additional TV access, they will have to purchase a separate subscription. To keep users informed, Amazon is sending users an email about their upgrade rules regarding device sharing. Learn more about how the new Amazon Prime subscription rules may affect users sharing accounts with friends and family.
Amazon Prime Subscription Rules
Amazon has updated its Prime subscription rules to limit the number and types of devices used from a single account. It is known that Prime Video users can log in to up to five devices, allowing users to share accounts with friends and family. However, out of those 5 devices, only 2 can be TVs. Therefore, if you require a third TV device to access Prime Video, you will have to purchase a separate package. This seems to be bad news for those who share their accounts as many people like to watch OTT content on TV and these limitations can become a barrier for shared devices.
Amazon is not the only platform to introduce restrictions as several subscription-based platforms including Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar and others have limitations on the number of devices regardless of the type of gadget. Additionally, they include several user plans to increase the number of devices so they can be easily shared with friends and family.
Amazon Prime subscription price in India
Amazon Prime subscription starts at a monthly price of Rs.299. For quarterly payments, it is Rs.599 and for annual subscription, it is Rs.1499. It also offers annual Prime Lite at just Rs 0,799 per year and Prime Shopping version at Rs 399.
Now, before January 2025, make sure to make changes to your 5 device numbers, including 2 TVs and 3 other devices, or invest in a new plan.
