It’s no secret when one of . So it should come as no surprise that the company partnered with Sony to release the PlayStation version of the iPhone accessory. The new Backbone One – PlayStation Edition features the same white and black two-tone design as the standard DualSense controller.
The layout of the controller has not changed. As before, there are dedicated buttons for launching the Backbone app and recording gameplay. It also retains the standard model’s asymmetrical bar layout. At the bottom of the device you’ll find a Lightning port and a headphone jack for connecting a pair of wired headphones to your iPhone.
Most of the more notable changes Backbone has made for PlayStation fans are thanks to tweaks to the Backbone companion app, which will be available to all Backbone One owners. The new standalone mode lets you use the software without first connecting the controller to your iPhone. Effectively, it makes it easy to find new games to try and chat with friends between sessions. Backbone is also adding new PlayStation-specific integrations, including a dedicated row highlighting new releases and updates from Sony.
The Backbone One PlayStation Edition is available today from the Backbone website for $99. Like the standard model, it comes with a one-year free trial of Backbone+, so it comes with a free trial. , and, most notably, . The Android version of the controller will launch in the fall.
