B.League: Thirdy Ravena’s big game not enough to lift San-En
MANILA, Philippines – Thirdy Ravena scored 22 points but San-En NeoPhoenix lost to SunRockers Shibuya, 87-82, in the 2022-23 Japan B.League season on Wednesday at the Sumida-ku City Gymnasium.
Ravena produced a spark from the bench, shot 8/12 from the field and scored 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals but his efforts were in vain as San-En suffered third consecutive failure, slide down 8-6 record.
His brother, Kiefer Ravena, missed a second game in a row due to a left foot injury as Shiga Lakes suffered their 10th consecutive defeat and received a 2-12 card after losing to Osaka Evessa, 67-62 , at the Edion Arena Osaka.
Meanwhile, Matthew Wright scored 13 points, six assists and four rebounds, but committed five of the team’s 12 spins as Kyoto Hannaryz succumbed to the Hiroshima Dragonfly, 81-74, at Kyoto City Gymnasium.
Jarrod Uthoff led Hannaryz with 27 points and 13 goals, while Cheick Diallo had 21 points and 12 rebounds only for their team to suffer a third consecutive loss of 6-8.
Justine Baltazar was left out in Hiroshima’s third straight win to make it 11-3.
Bobby Ray Parks was limited to five points, one bounce, one assist, and one steal in the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins’ 70-66 loss to the Ryukyu Golden Kings at Dolphins Arena.
Ryukyu, leaving Jay Washington on the bench, improved to 11-3, ending Nagoya’s three-match winning streak to drop to 10-4.
Levanga Hokkaido received a second defeat in a row and slid to 4-10 after falling to the Chiba Jets, 88-77, as they missed Dwight Ramos for the third straight game due to a sprained right ankle.
In the second division, Greg Slaughter had only four points and two rebounds in nine minutes as Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka lost to Kumamoto Volters, 81-79, on Monday.
The former PBA player was benched in a massive 74-55 loss on Tuesday as their team slid to a record 8-9.
