B.League: Kiefer’s Shiga, Thirdy’s San-en continue slide

MANILA, Philippines – Brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena suffered separate heartbreaking defeats in the Japanese B.League on Wednesday.

Kiefer and the Shiga Lakestars went from hero to lemon when the Shiga Lakestars suffered their 13th consecutive defeat at the hands of Gunma Crane Thunders, 83-84, at the Ota City Sports Park Arena.

The 28-year-old keeper brought in 17 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and sparked his team’s fourth rally.

Ravena started a 16-6 run to close the seven-point deficit and give Shiga an 83-80 breath in the interval.

Trey Jones scored four points in a row to give Gunma an 84-83 lead with three seconds left. Ravena tried to make a potentially game-winning jump but he missed as his team dropped to 10-30.

Michael Parker led Gunma with 22 points, nine rebounds and two blocks to catch a three-board skate to improve to 17-21. Justin Keenan scored 19 goals, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, while Jones added 17.

Sean O’Mara provided Shiga with 27 points and 10 rebounds in another loss.

Meanwhile, Thirdy and San-en NeoPhoenix took 65-91 hits against Shimane Susanoo Magic at Toyohashi City Gymnasium.

Younger Ravena was limited to six points, two rebounds and one assist as San-En dropped for the third game in a row, falling to an 8-34 card. Max Hisatake brought San-En with 20 points, 18 rebounds and two steals.

Nick Kay paved the way for Shimane with 19 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals, while Perrin Buford and Nyika Williams delivered 16 points each as they improved to 34-10.
