Q. What are the main reasons behind the switch from Android TV to Google TV?
No other brand in the world enjoys brand value like Google. It also surpasses Android. The transition was a company decision made at Google’s Mountain View office. The user interface, as soon as it is introduced in the market, will also earn its own capital thanks to the new user interface that customers will soon experience.
With this launch, what Google has done is copied their search engine system into their TV software, where all the apps have been integrated on their user interface to help find Search and suggest easier. Q. What are your expectations from the newly launched QLED product line for the upcoming festival season?
We have very high expectations from this launch. We hope to receive positive and honest feedback from our customer base who will really see the work that went into developing this model, especially on new software – Google TELEVISION.
After 2018, this is Kodak’s first launch with Google, and we thank our partners for their unwavering trust and support. This will also give us an edge over our competitors in the market.
Q. What trends are you expecting regarding QLED Make in India technology?
Kodak aims to be a trendsetter when it comes to new technology in TVs. With our software moderation scheduled for release, other brands will follow. We are the first to introduce Google TV to the market and will work to make the software as popular as possible because its UI/UX is really great to work with. This TV also comes with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS, Dolby MS 12, MS 11. With the growing popularity of OTT platforms, we want consumers to have the best convenience for streaming. With our fully loaded spec TVs, customers are sure to have a superior experience. We really believe our TVs should be priced well and that’s exactly what we’re trying to do. We will continue to deliver the best priced TVs on the market and are the most sought-after durable brands by consumers.
Q. What do you think is the most popular TV segment in the country today?
The most popular TV segment in the country today is the 43-inch TV. It used to be 32 inches in the past, but consumers are now looking to upgrade their screen size along with the software. Urban and semi-urban consumers are shifting towards larger screens and the premium segment is gaining ground as well.
Q. How has the entry of established smartphone brands like OnePlus and Realme changed the TV market in India?
I think due to the entry of all these brands, Kodak’s market share has increased, as consumers start to trust affordable brands. Also, due to border tensions with China, there has been a shift towards Indian brands. The brands affected by the entry of Xiaomi, Realme and other Chinese companies are Korean and Japanese brands that have experienced a decline in market share.
With the launch of Google TV QLED, we feel proud that this is the first time that Kodak has a product advantage, as none of these brands have been able to launch Google TV in the QLED line yet.
Q. What is the exact meaning of fully automatic TV factory?
Fully automatic lines are lines with minimal human intervention, close to zero. On such lines, only the outer part of the product is mounted and inspected. Fully automated lines reduce error rates significantly, bringing them to near zero. There is great precision involved in the whole process.
We have also used technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) that will allow us to enhance the quality of our products. With AI, we will regularly test our TVs on parameters such as color, pattern, audio and video testing. This kind of regular testing will not only give us accurate results, but the AI ​​will also collect data for future use and reference. Our factory will also have robots to pack and handle fragile items like LED lights. Sub-assemblies will also be attached to the automated production line.
Q. What is the purpose of this plant to provide better economies of scale?
As you know, we are trying to develop a fully automated production unit. We have had this plan for years as the sole goal of our new high-tech facility is to grow at least 100% by 2023-2024.
Our new production line will involve minimal human intervention. We took care of all this while setting up the factory. This AI-powered system will also ensure the quality of our output, which will be on par with global standards. Our economies of scale will improve as our reject rates will be less, resulting in increased production.
