New Delhi:

The avalanche was filmed near the Baltal area in Sonamarg, in the Ganderbal district in central Kashmir. According to reports, two avalanches occurred in the area and there were no casualties.

New snowfall in the higher parts of the valley has pushed nighttime temperatures above freezing across Kashmir.

While the temperature in Srinagar is around 3 degrees Celsius, Qazigund, the gateway to the Valley, has recorded a minimum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius.

The tourist resort town of Pahalgam in Anantnag district, which also serves as a base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded the lowest temperature of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius – up from minus 3.2 degrees.

The PTI news agency reported that the minimum temperature in Gulmarg in the Baramulla district was minus 3 degrees Celsius.

Chillai Kalan started on December 21 and ended on January 30. The cold continued even after that with ‘Chillai Khurd’ (minor cold) lasting 20 days and ‘Chillai Bachha’ (mild cold) 10 days later. it.
