Prime Minister, The Hon. Anthony Albanese said the latest shipment of military assistance responds to a direct request from the Minister of Defense of Ukraine for additional facilities and demonstrates Australia’s unwavering commitment to the Ukrainian people.

“Australia, like many countries, condemns Russia’s unwarranted aggression against the Ukrainian people,” Mr Albanese said.

“Our nation has stood with Ukraine since the beginning of this illegal conflict, and we are proud to be able to provide access to critical capabilities such as the Armored Personnel Carrier that has gone this past week.”

Deputy Prime Minister, The Hon. Richard Marles added, “We will continue to look at how we can best help the Ukrainian people. Australia stands with Ukraine, and once again calls on Russia to stop its gratuitous, gratuitous and illegal invasion of Ukraine.

The M113AS4 armored personnel carrier is a long-used armored fighting vehicle of the Australian Defense Force, designed to transport infantry troops on the battlefield.

Developed in Australia, the AS4 is a modernized variant based on the highly efficient M113 series which has served the Australian Army and many other forces with great success since the 1960s.

Together with the proven Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle, the M113AS4s will provide valuable protected maneuverability to Ukrainian forces, along with similar capabilities endowed globally.
