Atlus has announced that the next RPG title will be a sequel to Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, dubbed Soul Hackers 2.
In Soul Hackers 2, the world faces the end of the world. An entity named Aion tasked two AI agents, Ringo and Figue, to prevent the destruction of Earth. The pair must track down and resurrect slain Demon Summoners, humans who have the ability to summon and command demons, using their Soul Hack ability. These Demon Summoners represent different Demon Summoner factions, and their murders played a role in triggering Earth’s downfall. Ringo and Figue must discover why and how to stop it.
In Atlus style, spending time with team members in a social setting strengthens your relationships and that of the group as a whole. Combat is similar to Shin Megami Tensei’s classic turn-based combat system but exploiting an enemy’s weakness activates the new Sabbath ability, a scale attack that summons demons to slay enemies with the same ability. at the time.
The first Devil Summoner game was released in Japan in 1996. Although it was never localized, its sequel, Soul Hackers, debuted in 1997 and was translated and re-released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013. In her review of the 3DS version of Soul Hacker, editor Kimberly Wallace gave it a 8.75 out of 10 wrote “Soul Hackers is not an easy fight, but it is worth every second it takes to take you down. It became my addiction; I’m completely absorbed in boss fights, youkai recruitment and figuring out where the story line goes next. I still can’t believe that a game that came out in 1997 feels so fresh and exciting more than 15 years later.”
