Ather Energy has launched a new upgrade program for Gen 1 450 scooter owners to upgrade to the latest generation 450X electric scooter. New program will allow owners of vehicles older than three years to exchange 450X Gen 1 for a new 450X Gen 3 for just $80,000 (old gallery).
atherogenic energy announced new programming on the latest Community Day along with several other upgrades to 450X Generation 3. The company has also implemented more $10,000 discount for the first 1,000 450 customers can purchase 2023 450X Gen 3 for the effective price of $70,000. Meanwhile, customers who own 450 e-scooters under three years old can upgrade to 450X Gen 3 for $90,000, down $80,000 (all prices are out of showroom prices) with an early-order discount. The discount can only be applied until March 2023. That’s almost half the value of a brand new Ather 450X Gen 3. E-scooters are priced from $1.37 lakh for 450 Plus, up to $1.60 lakh for 450X (old showroom in Delhi).

Speaking at the launch event, Tarun Mehta, Co-Founder and CEO – Ather Energy said: “Owners receive a high residual value of approx. $75,000-90,000 over the first 450 generations though three to four years after purchase.”
The company wants more of its owners to switch to the latest generation 450X which has better hardware and is easily compatible with the majority of changes implemented through OTA or accessory updates. Mehta also explains that not all new accessories and components are backward compatible, which means they cannot be retrofitted on Gen 1 scooters.
