MANILA, Philippines – Defending champions Ateneo Lady Eagles opened their title bid against La Salle Lady Spikers in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament on May 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The federation has announced the schedule for the women’s volleyball tournament with the fiercest opponents in Philippine sport, highlighting the explosive 4-goal opening that took place at 4pm.
Eya Laure and University of Santo Tomas, who Finalist in 2019 but solved the silver problem, began their campaign against the Far Eastern University at 10 am.
National University, which led the 2020 season with a 2-0 start before the pandemic wiped out the rest of the season, will resume unfinished business ahead of Adamson at 12pm.
Lady Bulldogs will parade the stars of the national team Ivy Lacsina, Jennifer Nierva, Mhicaela Belen, Alyssa Solomon and Kamille Cal, all members of the Philippines women’s volleyball team last year, under the coach. new chief Karl Dimaculangan.
The University of the Philippines and Oriental University will begin their school day at 6 p.m.
Ateneo, whose reserves are Faith Nisperos, Dani Ravena, Vanie Gandler and Jaja Maraguinot, will start over from a title-maintenance attempt that was derailed in Season 82, where Kat Tolentino played in the final year of UAAP Hers only lasted for two matches.
La Salle coach Ramil De Jesus will also return to UAAP after playing just one game in 2020, where his youth squad is led by Thea Gagate, Jolina Dela Cruz and Justine Jazareno knocked out coaches Oliver Almadro and Ateneo in four sets.
Women’s volleyball will be played every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with the first round of seven matches being held at the MOA Arena.
The men’s basketball post-season will be scheduled every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday starting next week.
Ateneo and UST, the Season 81 finalists, will clash on the final day of the first round at 6 p.m. ET on May 19.
