Atari is celebrating its 50th anniversary with some exciting new hits. The venerable gaming company announced on Thursday that it is partnering with sustainable footwear maker, Cariuma. The collection will feature five designs that top two of Cariuma’s most popular sneaker styles, the Chuck Taylor-esque OCA Low and the Vans-near Catiba Pro.
The Catiba Pros retail for $98 and will come in black and white variants while the $89 OCA Lows will include a red colorway alongside black and white. While both feature prominent Atari emblems, the two styles will be recognizable from afar as the Lows sport’s “Game On” text contrasts with the Pro’s depiction of a Cariuma emblem. there are many pixels. These sneakers are made from eco-friendly materials including GOTS certified organic cotton, natural rubber and recycled plastic. Furthermore, for each pair purchased, Atari and Cariuma will plant two trees in the Amazon rainforest.
This is not the first time the worlds of fashion and games have clashed, Playstation released branded footwear through Nike and Adidas previously teamed up with Xbox – there is even one Atari . speaker cap released not long ago. The Atari x Cariuma collection is available online at Cariuma.com
