Another company that has tried to bring its wagon to the rising star of high-priced and high-clearance wagons is Rayton-Fissore.

Carrozzeria Fissore is a fitness trainer founded in Turin, Italy after World War I. It turns out that some of the stand-alone cars and distinctive bodies are based on Fiats and DKWs. Until ‘In the 70s, it is perhaps best known for the design and construction of De Tomaso Vallelunga.

Over the years, however, the company has also built a solid reputation among lovers of high-class style by creating suit versions of the Italian designer Fiat’s Multipla. The 1970s saw Fissore earn a contract to design and build bodywork for Swiss car builder Peter Monteverdi. One of them includes the Range Rover-like Safari, which is a race in the International Scouting competition.
Rayton Fissore was founded in 1976 as the start of a fitness trainer company. Its most notable product was the Magnum, a luxury off-road vehicle introduced to the US market as the Laforza in 1989.
Laforza rides on an Iveco truck chassis originally intended for military use. As the Magnum in Europe, most of the truck has powered by a range of four-cylinder engines sourced from Fiat. In an effort to boost the brand’s fuel economy numbers, later models used diesel engines from VM Motori and BMW.
For the US market, Rayton Fissore decided on something with a few more horseschoose Ford’s evergreen 5.0L version The V8 along with that brand’s four-speed automatic AOD. A Mopar New Process 229 split two-speed two-speed transmission that splits 225 hp is provided between the front and rear axles. On top of all that is a clean but somewhat anonymous five-door body designed by Pantera-penner Tom Tajjarda and offers a spacious cabin. The trucks were built, not by Fissore, but in Pininfarina.
In total, about 1,200 Laforzas (Laforzi?) were imported into the US, and while time is short, this is. 1989 edition seems to have survived quite a bit without being hurt. It shows off with a clean title, a white on black leather color scheme and just 40,500 miles on the watch. There doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with the bodywork or trim, and the paintwork retains a fair amount of luminosity in the image. Oh, and yes, the factory intended for these trucks to have gaps on the dashboard that you could reach in. Another interesting fact is that it is a Fiat Uno tail light.
Moving to the cabin, there are some scratches of leather on the steering wheel, but other than that, the interior also looks surprisingly well kept for its age. Somehow, it all comes together in a charming fashion.
According to the ad, this Laforza is from a collection and is being sold as part of the demolition of that stable. In the end, the seller asked $9,900 for the truck.
