The automaker announced on Friday the entire Aston Martin lineup will be electrified by 2030 with a combination of plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains.
Aston has previously confirmed that their first plug-in hybrid — a reboot of the Valhalla Supercar–will come in 2024with the first electric vehicle, a sports car, followed in 2025. By 2026, all new Aston lineups will have the option of an electrified powertrain, according to the automaker. .
The electrification goals are part of a broader sustainability initiative. Dubbed Racing Green, it also includes targets for net carbon emissions from manufacturing facilities by 2030 and from supply chains by 2039.

Eco-friendly materials, including “green aluminum alloy” produced with 100% renewable energy and vegan interior options, are also part of the plan.
Aston in March also announced a cooperation with Britishvolt to develop new battery technology for use in EVs by 2025. The carmaker will rely on a plan to share the technology with Mercedes-Benz – which owns a 20% stake – for plug hybrid models. -print in the future.
Aston first confirmed plans for an electric sports car and SUV in March 2021, and in an interview later that year, CEO Tobias Moers (the former boss of the AMG performance brand) from Mercedes) says the sports car will replace one of Aston’s current models.

But in a separate interview that year, Moers also noted Aston need to follow its plans. He said, when he joined the company, Aston promised a lot but failed to deliver. That was certainly the case with Aston’s plan to launch an EV, which has seen a few false starts.
Aston’s previous EV, an electric version of the Rapide called the Rapide E, never entered production. First, the partnership with LeEco – then billed as the “Netflix of China” and a supporter of Faraday Future – fell apart. Williams Advanced Engineering then continued development, but the Rapide E was killed by cost-cutting. Will Aston be more successful this time around? We’ll have to wait and see.
