Manitoba Jockey Club, the non-profit organization of Assiniboia Downscontacted their Provincial regulator, the Alcohol, Gaming & Cannabis Authority (LGCA), to formally request a full and complete review of Race 5 from 20 July 2022 .
Darren Dunn, CEO, said: “The unusual nature of the race from lap 5 last night led us to contact and make this request. “When I watch the race in real time, my first reaction is that the jockey is pulling the horse up due to possible injury. When the jockey rematches the horse after his balance on the court catches up and then start riding aggressively the horse to the finish line, the sudden change is very concerning.
“Although in our opinion there will not be any adjustment to the final finish order in the race, due to the absence of any interference with any other horses, the fact that there are no Requests posted by the Managers has created great public concern from a perception point of view, so we felt it was necessary to take action and make this formal request. .
“Just to be clear, we have full confidence in our regulator and Regulator and appreciate the significant experience they bring to our industry. We believe they could have taken it on their own. However, based on what we saw last night as an operator and the significant feedback we have received, we feel an obligation on behalf of our customers and brand ASD Live to crystallize our view on this very important issue.
“While we cannot guide or direct our regulator on how to act on this matter, our request is to formally review and issue a statement on their findings. that we can share with the public.”
