Assam outfit goes to police over Mahua Moitra’s Gogoi tweet | India News
GUWAHATI: An Assamese costumed person has filed a complaint with the police against MP Mahua of the Trinamool Parliament Moitra for her recent tweet suggesting that the phrase “sexual harassment” be replaced with “Mr Gogoi,” a surname in the Ahom community in the state.
Moitra clarified on Twitter that her post is not for all of Gogois but for “Mister Ranjan Gogoi. Honorable MP, Rajya Sabha“A former person CJI.
Police said a written complaint by Jatiya Sangrami Sena was received on Friday by Sivasagar Sadar police but no cases have been registered. The outfit alleged that Moitra had offended the entire Assamese community and demanded an unconditional apology.
Assam BJP also demanded an apology. Spokesman Mominul Awal said: “The word no parliament that Moitra used is an insult to all Assamese people, and demanded that TMC president Ripun Bora also apologize to the people.
