Assam government signs 7 MOUs with Microsoft, Google, Tata Group, Others: All details


The Assam government on Monday signed seven agreements in different sectors with a range of giant companies, including Microsoft, Google, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Tata group companies. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of the government by the Assam Skills Development Mission (ASDM). The Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training conducted a Memorandum of Understanding with Info Edge (India), also known as Naukri.com, in the presence of Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, ministries other heads of state and senior officials. Assam Tourism Development Corporation signed a pact with the Union of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, and the Tata Strive Skills Development Initiative of the Tata Community Initiative Trust and the Indian Hospitality Company.

Meanwhile, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam’s Green Energy Limited to produce 1,000 MW of solar power.

Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft will pave the way for youth capacity building in Assam Skills Development Centers statewide. Microsoft through its MDSP (Microsoft Diversity Skills Program) modules will provide interventions for underserved youth to ensure their active participation in the workforce.

Objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding with Google India will support the Government of Assam in training young people with job-ready digital and business skills. The Google Career Certificate course will facilitate job matching for skilled youth through a pool of potential employers.

L&T will provide knowledge and support for the establishment of training and implementation of greenfield projects in the construction sector, while the goal of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Healthcare Industry Skills Council ( HSSC) is the mobilization of unemployed youth of Assam for skills training. Besides skills training for unemployed youth, industrial employment will be arranged within one month after completing the training.

The deal with Naukri.com will provide an online platform for unemployed youth to upload their resumes to a digital domain to attract potential employers, while a Memorandum of Understanding between APDCL and SJVNL Green Energy Limited (SGEL) will aim to develop solar power projects with an installed capacity of 1000 MW.

Meanwhile, the pact signed between Assam Tourism Development Corporation and Tata Strive Skills Development Initiative and others will establish a hospitality skills center of excellence for training state youth.
