Asia Cup 2022, India vs Sri Lanka: No long-term worries, we tried out three-seamer option, says Rohit Sharma | Cricket News

DUBAI: India staring at Asian Cup elimination after their six-goal loss first Sri Lanka here on tuesday but captain Rohit Sharma said they don’t have to worry about the long term as they are testing with three divers ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
Rohit said consecutive losses in the Asian Cup – the first against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday – will teach the team how to find answers ahead of the ICC event in October-November.
“I am satisfied with the three athletes who sew. Unfortunately, Avesh did not perform well in the fitness tests. He did not respond well because he was quite ill. Ideally, the combination that we have going to play is four athletes sewing, but three athletes sewing is what we want to try before the World Cup,” Rohit said during his post-match presentation.

“We needed to find answers as a team, like our position with five pitchers. Now we know where we stand with this combination.
“Not to worry about the long-term, we’ve only lost two games back. Since the last World Cup, we haven’t lost too many games. These matches will teach us. We want to put pressure on ourselves. for myself in the Asian Cup”. We are still looking for answers. ”
He commended the Indian archers for advancing in the match despite Sri Lanka’s start of the race.

“(Yuzvendra) Chahal and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) are senior professionals and have been doing it for a while. I need to get answers from younger people.
“With the ball, it was an effort to make the most of it to the last minute compared to the start they had. The players turned around, threw the ball fiercely and had nasty catches in the middle, but Sri Lanka did. Try to stay mentally strong.
“We thought with a bigger boundary we could make good use of the gyros. But the plan didn’t work out. Their right-handers hit the ball for a long time. I thought about putting ( Deepak) Hooda comes in and uses longer lines.”

Rohit ru that his team was missing 10-15 times while hitting the ball.
“We ended up wrong, as simple as that. We could have taken advantage of our first inning. We dropped 10-15 runs. The second half wasn’t good for us.
“People in the midfield can learn about playable shots. These things can happen. Losses like this give us an understanding of what works as a team.”
