Arvind Kejriwal vs Gujarat Cops Over Dinner At Auto Driver’s Home
Ahmedabad:
The National Conference of the Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was stopped today by police from visiting the home of an auto rickshaw driver in Ahmedabad. Citing security concerns, Gujarat Police briefly prevented Mr. Kejriwal from going to the driver’s house for dinner.
Earlier today, the AAP leader accepted an invitation from an auto rickshaw driver to dinner at his home in Ahmedabad. He left the hotel around 7:30pm and planned to go to the rickshaw driver’s house in his car.
Police blocked AAP’s national summons, leading to disagreements. He was then allowed to travel by car.
Mr Kejriwal, who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat as part of AAP’s campaign for the upcoming Council polls, addressed a gathering of auto rickshaw drivers in Ahmedabad in the afternoon. .
After his speech, an auto rickshaw driver named Vikram Dantani, a resident of the Ghatlodia area of the city, asked Mr. Kejriwal to have dinner at his home.
“I’m your fan. In a video I saw on social media, you went to dinner at a car driver’s house in Punjab. So, will you come to my house for dinner?” Mr. Dantani asked.
The Delhi chief immediately replied to confirm the invitation.
“Autowalas of Punjab and Gujarat love me. Should I come tonight? At 8pm,” the AAP leader said.
