Arnott’s gives in to Taylor Swift mania releasing ‘Tay Tams’ to celebrate 60 years of the iconic treat

As global music icon Taylor Swift prepares to take the stage in Melbourne for her highly-anticipated Eras Tour, her eager fans are in for another treat.

To mark 60 years of arguably Australia’s favourite chocolate biscuit — the Tim Tam — the Arnott’s team have launched a special-edition ‘Tay-Tam’ biscuit, giving in to Swiftie-mania taking over the country.

Celebrating the biscuit’s birthday in style, the Arnott’s team started the day at Melbourne International Airport, welcoming visitors (and thousands of Swifties) to Australia with free Tim Tams, inviting visitors and fans alike to indulge in the “irresistible” treat.

Swift is a Tim Tam fan herself, previously calling Tim Tam Chewy Caramel “life-changing”.

For her fans, a limited number of special edition ‘Tay Tam’ biscuits are being distributed in Melbourne across the day and outside her concert at the MCG.

For a biscuit that first appeared on supermarket shelves in 1964, it is now purchased by more than 2.8 million Australian households and is the go-to gift for over half of Aussie travellers who pack it in their suitcase for friends and family overseas, according to Arnott’s.

You could probably guess the most popular flavours across the country are original, double coat and chewy caramel. Here on the West Coast, more than half (51.4 per cent) of households put Tim Tams in their shopping trolley in the last year, Circana shopperview household data shows.

Of all the flavours to choose from, more WA shoppers purchased Tim Tam white and Tim Tam double coat than the national average…

If you’ve never done a Tim Tam slam before — where you bite the corners of the biscuit diagonally and use it as a straw in a hot chocolate or coffee — then today is the day to indulge in this chocolatey treat.
