Are you thinking of Japanese food? ADRIFT Kaya in Delhi is the new place to be
Japanese cuisine has received immense popularity in India and it shows no signs of stopping. From Sushi to Ramen, Gyoza to Mochi – these Japanese-origin dishes have become part of our usual cuisine now. If you’re looking for some authentic Japanese food in the capital, we’ve got you covered. ADRIFT Kaya in Delhi’s Aerocity is the newest addition to Japanese restaurants in the city. Nestled inside the JW Marriott plus hotel, it is based on the concept of an ‘Izakaya’ or a casual bar with small dishes that pair well with alcoholic beverages.
ADRIFT Kaya is the brainchild of chef David Myers – who has traveled and lived a lot in Japan. Chef wanted it to be a love letter to Tokyo’s buzzing bar and restaurant culture, while also paying tribute to his Californian roots. The 360-degree bar along with the open kitchen and sushi bar give you a first-hand look at the behind-the-scenes action. Indigo wood floors, handcrafted beaded curtains and some eye-catching lighting complement the buzzing atmosphere at ADRIFT Kaya.
We tried the Omakase Menu which started with the comforting Miso Truffle Morel soup. The Sudachi Buckwheat Soba and Shaved Okra Salad were among the delightful small plates served to us. The Sushi and Truffle Gyoza varieties really stole the show for us.
Sumi’s signature dishes like Eggplant Teriyaki and Yasai Moriawase Ramen are delightful. We also enjoyed the Spicy Salmon Belly Tartare as well as the Lobster Spiny Tempura.
When it comes to cocktails, ADRIFT Kaya leaves us spoiled for choice. There are signature concoctions the restaurant serves alongside popular classics. Desserts like Ginza Parfait and Chocolate Praline provided a sweet ending to our meal.
