Arctic Awakening Gets Chilly New Trailer

Today we got a new look at Arctic Awakening, GoldFire Studios’ upcoming first-person narrative game. The player controls Kai, a cargo pilot who is delivering a relatively routine delivery to a small town in Alaska with his partner, when their plane plunges into the middle of nowhere. Donovan, the co-pilot, gets lost in the cold snow and waste, and Kai begins to look for him.

As Kai, you must explore the frigid wilderness, and the environment is a constant threat. The game is set in April 2062, so there are a few things that are slightly different from what one might expect to find in a modern day setting, including a court-mandated therapeutic bot. always be with you on your journey. AI drones have no shortage of fiery comments to share with you as you navigate the wilderness, but there are few useful tools or weapons that can aid your survival efforts.

In addition to the elements of exploration, Arctic Awakening focuses on narrative choices and how those choices change the relationships and situations of the characters around you. The decisions you make also affect how the game ends.

In addition to narrative elements, GoldFire Studios promises dynamic weather that changes over time, meaning even areas you’ve visited could be different when you revisit them a second time.

As Kai explores, it becomes increasingly clear that something more sinister is going on out there in the wilderness. High-tech facilities and mysterious technology are everywhere, providing a sense of mystery tinged with horror.

Arctic Awakening is targeting a release on consoles, PC, and Mac in 2023. It will be released as a collection of five 60-90 minute chapters for players to pick up on at their own pace.
