NFL Blitz Legends comes with the first three games in the popular arcade football series: NFL Blitz, NFL Blitz ’99, and NFL Blitz 2000: Gold Edition. Arcade1Up teamed up with the NFL and former soccer stars to bring the series back. If you’re nostalgic for this fast-paced, over-the-top sport, you won’t be disappointed here. The game looks, sounds, and feels real–while realistic playing football at least. These versions remove late hits, so you won’t be able to take out your opponent after the whistle blows.
From a design perspective, the cabinet looks similar to the original NFL Blitz cabinet and features images of iconic players like Jerry Rice, Terrell Davis, and Jerome Bettis. It has a luminous selector, a 17-inch screen, and comes with an optional lifter. The fake coin slot tables on the front are a nice touch.
All games support local and online multiplayer. It has four controllers, but like Cabinets NBA Jam, it’s a tight match for four players. The controls themselves feel great, especially the 49-way joystick that provides responsive, precise control for the player.
