Apple’s mixed reality headset could let wearers see invisible things like fires, gas leaks: Report

Apple’s new patent application suggests that its mixed reality (MR) headset could allow users to see invisible things, according to a report. It highlights that users can see gas leaks and Wi-Fi signals. The MR headset is supposed to use additional signals to enable the feature. It can also allow musicians to tune their instruments by displaying sound waves. It can also monitor heat patterns, which can help detect possible fires. By creating an augmented reality (AR) overlay, the headset is said to also be able to allow the wearer to see inside the cabinet.

According to a report by Patently Apple, a new patent application from the Cupertino tech giant reveals that the company’s MR headphones can allow users to see things that can’t be seen with the naked eye. The headset is rumored to be able to help the wearer detect gas leaks and Wi-Fi signals to adjust the router’s position.

The report suggests that Apple’s MR headphones will also monitor heat patterns to detect possible fires around the wearer for safety. It is said to use an infrared sensor to allow the wearer to see heat, which could help them detect a fire through a wall. The headset is supposed to create an overlay over the AR view of the location the user is in to show invisible things.

According to the report, it will also visualize sound waves to help musicians tune their instruments. It is supposed to create an overlay on the sine wave for the right note. Apple’s rumored headset is said to allow wearers to see behind closed cabinet doors by creating an AR overlay. According to the report, the video will match the archived video from the moment the user opens the cabinet with their current view and location.

Recently, it has report that Apple could launch MR headphones in 2023. The company is said to be working on three new headphones codenamed N301, N602 and N421. The company’s first MR headset will be called Apple Reality Pro, which is expected to compete with Facebook’s upcoming AR-VR headset.
