Apple TV Plus: shows, movies, devices and everything you need to know
Apple TV Plus has been around for more than three years, and while it’s improved rapidly with investments in big, expensive programming, the platform still can’t match Netflix in terms of library size.
However, it’s clear that Apple intends to play the long game, with more star-studded content continuing to stream through their streamers into 2023 and beyond. We haven’t heard a word about Apple TV Plus recently from the company Far Out Reveal Event – that show is dedicated to its new product iPhone 14″, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro models – but we know there are plenty more Apple-produced movies and TV shows coming soon.

Apple TV Plus: what’s coming?
Apple typically showcases upcoming Apple TV Plus movies and TV shows at its annual iPhone launch event. This year, however, that didn’t happen, with the company’s recent Far Out showcase – held on September 7 – dedicated to its new hardware releases.
For our money, a hot reel showcasing the streamer’s 2023 offer is the minimum we hope to expect from Apple at its latest iPhone launch, so it’s disappointing to see Apple TV Plus eliminated that way.
However, we do know that Apple is currently gearing up to release a Killers of the Flower Moon film directed by Martin Scorsese. — starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro — on the streaming service for $200 million. An unnamed Formula 1 film, starring Brad Pitt, directed by Top Gun: Maverick Filmmaker Joseph Kosinski is also in the process of preparing.
Suffice it to say, therefore, that Apple has a number of hit movie documentaries ready for 2023 and beyond. We hope to get some official communication soon about what other projects it’s working on.
So, is Apple TV Plus like Netflix?
This is where things get a bit confusing. When he returned to the stage in 2020, Tim Cook made it very clear that Apple TV Plus is not like Netflix – at least not yet. While the service will eventually offer original content by payload, Apple TV Plus does not offer licensed content like Netflix or Amazon Prime, which includes all the aggregators, like The Big Bang Theory, Mr. Robot or Seinfeld. However, that could change in the future, if a Bloomberg (opens in a new tab) The report — a hint that Apple might feature licensed shows and movies on its service — is credible.
For now, you’ll still have to purchase those shows through iTunes or through your terrestrial cable app in Apple TV Channels and switch to Apple TV Plus for the original library.
